Breaking in the new kitchen...

As most of you know, Matt and I recently moved to a new flat in downtown Budapest. Where it used to take us over an hour to get into the city, we now live smack dab in the center! Our new flat is surrounded by universities, meaning tons of students, and we live right off a street with over forty restaurants!
One of my favorite things to do in our new flat is cook! It's so easy for us to get in a food rut...spaghetti, grilled chicken & veggies, tacos, turkey burgers, eggs, sandwiches, repeat. So, I've been trying to find and test out some new recipes. Here are a few I've already tried and loved courtesy of the Pioneer Woman's blog! She's amazing.

I started with "The Best Coffee Cake Ever." Yep, that's really the name of the recipe, and can I just tell you; it's true! You have to try this recipe, but be warned, it's definitely not low-fat!

Next, I tried the Grilled Chicken and Pineapple Quesadillas. Super easy and super good! These will definitely be thrown in to the dinner rotation!

Next: cupcakes! I've been hearing so much about these new bakeries specializing in adorable cupcakes opening in our hometown lately! It seems like everyone on facebook has been raving about these new bakeries; Muddy's and Gigi's. Cupcakes definitely aren't a common thing to find around these parts, so I decided to make my own! They look a little rough, but boy did they taste good!

What's next? Besides a trip to the gym I had to join when I got on this cooking kick...

Chicken Parmigiana! Hopefully, our dinner tonight will look as good as the Pioneer Woman's!

If you have any good 'from scratch' recipes or cooking websites you use, I'd love to hear about them! Have a great week!

  1. Hey Megan...you go girl!!! We love the Pioneer Woman too and everything we have cooked we have loved. Her favorite sandwich is good http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/10/pioneer_womans_favorite_sandwich/ and the "Perfect Pot Roast" is delicious as well. :)

  4. My daughter who lives in Hernando, MS just introduced me to your blog. The reason being is that my husband and I may be moving to Baku, AZ in the very near future. I am a little concerned about living overseas and any information of other Americans living abroad is of interest to me. As I read this entry to your blog, I thought I would share with you a cooking blog that I really enjoy blog.madhungry.com I actually have her cookbook, watch her cook on the Hallmark Channel everyday, and now read her blog. She cooks everything from scratch and makes it so easy. I hope you will check her out and enjoy her as much as I do! I will continue to read your blog to get a glimpse of life overseas.
