European Road Trip

This past week, Matt and I took a little road trip to Germany for a company conference. Everyone else either flew or took a train, but because I am 36 weeks pregnant, we thought it would be best if we drove, stopping whenever we pleased along the way. We decided to drive  about five and a half hours the first day and spend the night in Prague. We have some friends there who told us where to stay and what to see...

These pics were taken in the city center...

After a great night of exploring the city and hanging out with our friends, we were craving something yummy for breakfast. Paul's Bakery definitely hit the spot! Matt and I both went into sugar commas after scarfing down some amazing pastries and hot chocolate!

After our super sugary breakfast, Matt and I drove for about another six hours to a little town in Northern Germany for our conference. We spent the week there catching up on company business and spending time with some of our friends from training. It was so good to catch up with these girls!!
The hot mama line up: Me -35wks pregnant, Kyra -32 wks pregnant with second baby, Kelly -2 months away from picking up her second child, an adopted little boy from Ethiopia, and Mandy -just had her second baby two months ago.

Most of our time at the conference was spent in sessions, but we managed to find time to sneak away to the nearest village to do some shopping and find a good Italian restaurant. The girls stayed up talking and sharing baby stories while the guys battled it out each night   in some intense games of hearts.
Our men: Matt (w/Kelly), Keven (w/Mandy), Reid (w/Kyra), & Matt (all mine).

When the conference was over and the goodbyes had all been said, we hit the road again! Matt and I decided to take a different route home...spending the night in Munich and then in Vienna.
Matt was pumped to have found some Mountain Dew!! It's been over a year since he's had one!

Some pics from Munich...

Driving through the Austrian countryside was absolutely gorgeous!
We saw wooden deer stands like the one in this picture all over the place!

The European Alps...

Finishing off a night of exploring Vienna with some awesome ice cream!

The next morning we decided to get one last look at the city...this store has the BEST chocolate in all of Austria!

A not-so-inviting looking cathedral...notice the snarling dogs jutting out of the front of the building. Nothing says "Come on in!" like scary dogs and sculls!

After Matt and I climbed the 347 steps of the bell tower at St. Stephen's basilica in Vienna.

We had a great trip driving all over Europe, but after being gone for over a week, we were ready to head back to Budapest! I'm so thankful for the time Matt and I were able to spend together exploring Europe! Next up: Baby Gideon's arrival!! Only 22 days left!
