Here's a quick rundown of the comings and goings around the Brewer flat this week:
We've been back and forth to the pediatrician with Gideon.
Matt's parents gave Gideon their last hugs and kisses for a while and have returned to MS.
Multiple repairmen have visited, each time ripping up a new part of our bathroom.
My sister was given a surprise trip to Budapest for Christmas and arrived a few days ago.
Two college students from our hometown have landed in BP to volunteer for a few weeks.
My mom arrived, though her luggage was lost somewhere between Rome and BP.
Gideon made his first appearance at the Forum, welcomed by many loving arms.
Whew! What a week!
During their stay here, Matt's parents ventured out into the city to see the many beautiful sights of Budapest. One afternoon, we packed everyone in the car and drove north to a little postcard town called Szentendre. Here's a picture of Mrs. Jill and Matt taken walking around the town's small Christmas market.
Until a few days ago, bath time had been filled with Gideon's squalls. We'd been laying him on a big baby sponge placed in the tub and washing him off. It wasn't until we put Gideon in the tub with me that he discovered his love for the water! Now, Gideon only takes baths with me or Matt. Who'd have known he was such a water baby! Here Matt and I are with G after one of his baths...
My mom, Nana to Gideon, and sister have been here for a few days now. They've been busy loving on Gideon and exploring the city. Here we are warming up with some hot chocolate after some shopping at the Christmas market.
Gideon has been so spoiled with all of our visitors! Mrs. Jill told Gideon story upon story of all of the crazy adventures his Daddy had been on and all of the fun things he will do with his Mimi and Papa. I continually hear my mom singing to Gideon and explaining to him how he will learn to ski and go deep sea fishing with her and Pop in FL.
Here are a few pics of Nana and Gideon spending some quality time together.
Gideon seems to be getting into some sort of rhythm, with Matt and I getting used to a new sleep (or should I say lack of sleep) schedule. He's gradually gaining weight, though still not as fast as the doctors would like. I think he's finally hitting a growth spirt because he seems to be hungry all of the time!
Playtime! What a cutie!
Yesterday, Gideon and I walked down the sidewalk to John and Allie's flat. She'd invited us over to make sugar cookies, but G and I did more watching and crying than helping! Oh well, it was a good chance to catch up and get out of the house. While Allie and I were hanging out, Matt, John, Cleat and Chase (our two volunteers from MS) drove up to the Castle in Visegrad. Here's a group shot of the guys...
We're excited to be able to share the holidays with some family and a few new friends this year. We're not able to send out Christmas cards to everyone this year, but here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from all three of us!
