We loved the city life in Rome, but there's just something special about getting out into the countryside. One morning, we headed out to a small medieval village called Orvieto. Talk about picturesque! It actually reminded Matt and I a lot of a tiny town just north of Budapest we often visited called Szentendre.
We stopped for a quick coffee and snack at this little bar (café):
The owner was sweet enough to show us their family wine cellar that was built in the year 1290! I definitely felt like I was stepping back in time as we descended down into the cellar.
Apparently, they take touching the merchandise VERY seriously! :)

We also went to Bagnoregio, also known as "The Dying City" because the city and it's foundation has been eroding for years, with whole houses falling off the side of the cliff. This city is famous because it is one of the last pre-Roman towns left and is abounding in classic Etruscan architecture.
(Do you see that steep road heading up to the town?! Oh yes, this pregnant momma hiked all the way up!)
