Wind, Waves, and...Wrecks?!

Has it really been a month since I last posted?! The summer is flying by! Let's see...we'll start with our little beach trip; 

Matt and I have a slam packed summer scheduled, so we thought we might need a little getaway for just the two of us before the madness began. I scoured the web in search of a "good deal" on a condo only to find that those don't really exist unless you book way in advance or in a down season. Anyway, I ended up finding an awesome  spot for a decent price in Gulf Shores. We'd packed our bags and we're well on our way here ...

...when this happened...

Yep. That's our truck. In the median. 

We were a little over half way there when a truck came flying off the on ramp onto the interstate, crossing over into the left lane (where we were), clipping the front of our truck spinning us off into the median where we plowed over tons of trees and ended up facing the way we came from! Whew! Luckily, we were both fine. The truck, however, was definitely not fine. We ended up having to leave it in a body shop there and getting a rental car, which we still have. 

Not exactly the way you want to start your vacation, but we were just incredibly thankful that we were okay and that the kids hadn't been with us!

If we didn't need a vacation before all of that, we certainly deserved one now!

We had a gorgeous view of the lagoon from our balcony and the beach was just a five minute walk away!

We had our fill of sea food at most of the hot spots, but my favorite was Shipp's Harbour Grill in Orange Beach. Gorgeous view and great food! They had tons of options, so I went with this delicious tomato pesto roll. This place will be at the top of our list next time we head to the beach!

Matt and I had a blast soaking up the sun and getting some much needed rest, but we were beyond ready to see these little munchkins! We are so thankful for Jill & Mark, who kept them while we were gone and for the sweet aunts and uncles who helped spoil them!
