I've got to take a minute- more like 30- to backtrack and talk ALL about our recent trip to Rome! I've been putting this post off only because I took a ridiculously large amount of photos while there and hated the thought of having to scale them down to only my favorites! During our two weeks in IT, I filled an entire notebook with stats, thoughts, prayers, and nearly every word our sweet friend and local pastor, Leo, uttered. Here's a quick recap of the trip:
The Dates: November 5th-14th
The Team: Matt & Megan Brewer, Vance, Kim & Aaron Daly, Paul & Debbie McGehee, Jody & Haley Jenkins, and Morgan McIntyre
The City: Rome, Italy (San Paolo)
What a privilege it was to visit Rome again as we worked with our dear friends, Reid & Kyra and their three adorable daughters! Over the course of the trip, we learned all about Vatican II Theology from Leo, as well as Team Rome's strategy from Reid, attended two Italian worship services (one of which Matt was asked to preach at!), participated in a night of prayer for the persecuted church around the world, discussed Italian stereotypes and false hopes, prayer walked, visited the Forum, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, many different Basilicas, The Vatican, The Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Square, a WWII museum, the Pantheon, tons of outdoor art markets, went on a day trip to Orvieto, sent Reid & Kyra on a date night while we watched their sweet kiddos, & ate tons of pizza, pasta, and gelato!!!
Whew!!! What an amazing trip! Hated to leave our sweet friends but oh so thankful for such an amazing trip and a renewed burden for Italians. Please pray for the Lord to continue to soften hearts in San Paolo and for endurance for those serving there!
Blessed beyond words by the entire trip, but particularly by the time Matt and I were able to spend with the Karrs! Conversations with longtime friends have never been so sweet or more needed! The Lord certainly knew far before we ever planned the trip how desperately we would need each other to confide in, laugh with, speak truth to, pray for, and encourage one another at the very time we would arrive in Rome!
