We've had absolutely beautiful weather here lately. It's been sunny with highs in the mid 60s and low 70s! It'd be a shame to let this perfect weather go to waste, so last Saturday we took Gideon out for his first trip to the ZOO! He slept through about half of the exhibits but seemed to enjoy what animals he was awake to see! :)
Here's a map of the zoo...
We got face to face with some hungry, hungry hippos...
(No zoom required, I could have reached out and touched him!)
Talked about riding elephants like these in Africa...
(You can't tell here, but G has his elephant pants and jacket on.)
Checked out the lions, tigers, bears, and more!
What kind of animal would you say this is...?
Try a Mangalitsa! Looks like a sheep, smells like a pig! These are hairy pigs known to have originated here in Hungary.
Our attempt at a family photo...Someone wasn't feeling too photogenic...
We found some friendly camels too...
Gideon drifted off somewhere between the peacocks and the panthers, so Matt and I enjoyed the rest of the animals on our own.
After the zoo, we stopped at a nearby park to feed Gideon. Tons of people were out throwing frisbees, playing soccer, or just sunbathing.
The whole fam on the way home...
What a fun day! Hopefully, we'll be able to take G to Africa to see some of the animals in their natural environments one day :)
How fun!!!! I cant believe the hippos were so close! I love the family picture!
